HISTORY OF STIMULETHERAPHY IN MALAYSIA

FOUNDER OF STIMULATHERAPY
(JAVANESE MASSAGE)
PRESIDENT,
PERSATUAN PENGAMAL STIMULATHERAPY MALAYSIA
(A MALAYSIAN BORN MODALITY)

Dato’ Dr Hj Rusly Bin Abdullah is the founder of Stimulatherapy. Stimulatherapy has become one of the listed complimentary modalities with Ministry of Health Malaysia through its membership in FCNMAM.  He prides himself on his ability to invent a new combination of Javanese massage with TCM’s Body Meridian Theory (Traditional Chinese Medicines). In his daily clinical practice, he would also employ some of acupressure’s techniques and sequences on his patient. He is well versed in Javanese massage techniques and Javanese garden herbs and spices. Dato’ Rusly believes in tailoring a massage towards the individual needs of each patient by employing multiple modalities to get the best results possible.
Dato’ Dr Rusly graduated from University of Science, Malaysia in 1982 and National University of Malaysia 1990. In 2004 he completed a research base thesis on Nusantara Massage and submitted to The Open International University for Complimentary Medicines, Colombo Sri Lanka. 1n 2005 he was admitted a Doctorate degree in complementary medicines by OIUCM.

Dato’ Rusly involvement in massage started back in 1972 when he was 14 years old. He was the only male masseur in his grandmother’s Pondok Tombo Rogo in Ijok, Kuala Selangor. 1986, he opened his own massage business in Johor Bahru. There he worked with many people from infants to the elderly.  Some of the common problems he worked on with his patients were migraine, headaches, mental stress, muscle tension, sinus, sports injuries, and arthritis.  With his nurturing touch, he has had thousands of happy, satisfied clients over the years, many of whom she still keeps in touch with to this day. In 1989, he relocated to Kuala Lumpur and opened Li Massage and Training Centre which later known as Institut Teknologi Kulinari Anjung Utara (ITKAU).

It’s his belief that what makes a good massage therapist is for them to take continuing education on a regular basis, which he does.  This allows him to help people through the expansion of her skills.  He is looking forward to developing the same successful relationships he had with his patients all over Malaysia and Indonesia. He is establishing Stimulatherapy Academy of Malaysia (STAM). STAM is to open its doors to young Malaysian to master Stimulatherapy. Jobs in massage therapy are expected to increase faster than average. Graduates of this program are eligible to work in private practice and work at hospitals, chiropractic offices, physical therapy clinics, holistic health clinics, spas and salons. Employment opportunities exist in resorts and on cruise ships.
Dato’ Rusly’s advice to his student is; To succeed as a massage therapist and massage service centre owner, you will need physical strength, mobility, and good interpersonal, communication, listening and critical thinking skills.
